Today for lunch we ate...

〃TA-DA!

Hiyashi chuuka (a cold noodle dish, typically a summer food)
for the first time this year~

〃
Cucumber
Bacon
Eggs
Shrimp
Tomato
were the various ingredients I included...

It's cold today, but eating hiyashi chuuka gives things a really
summer
sort of feeling

〃It's light and delicious

I've got gomadare (seasame sauce) for it now, too

Which is also delicious

But, it turns out Non's favorite is just the regular, plain hiyashi chuuka, after all

〃But, y'know...

I have some not-so-awesome memories of hiyashi chuuka...

This was from before we were married...

Back then I couldn't cook at all

I didn't even own any kitchen knives

But one day I thought,
I'll make Taa-kun lunch!

And so I decided to make a simple-seeming hiyashi chuuka...

...............But...

as it happened, however..................

..............................

............I failed...

'You failed at hiyashi chuuka.........?'

...is what you're probably thinking, right?

Yes

I, Tsuji Nozomi............
completely failed

The noodles were mushy, and the veggies were soggy............

It was so disgusting...

that when we tried some, we were both, like...............
"G-gross.................."

Yes...I'm a girl who couldn't even make hiyashi chuuka...

Yeah~
, I even surprised myself with that...

It was pretty depressing...

Even now, when I make hiyashi chuuka, I remember this and my heart beats fearfully

But today it turned out great, which was a relief

〃At the time, I felt so embarrassed and like I owed Taa-kun such a huge apology...

I'm sorry...

........................

Sob...And that's my bad memory about hiyashi chuuka

It's still just March, but we're heading into that time of year when hiyashi chuuka is especially delicious, y'know?

This year I'm gonna eat lots of hiyashi chuuka

〃And,

this year for sure, I want to make

delicious
hiyashi chuuka for Taa-kun

But not just hiyashi chuuka; this year, I hope to be able

to expand my culinary repertoire even more

〃I'll do my best!

〃'Cause,

you gotta grab your husband by his stomach

[note: seems to be a saying of sorts, to the effect that a wife should make delicious food to ensure that her husband will come home from work quickly and not leave her or cheat on her]
...as they say

Okay!

I'll grab it!

I'll grab it!

I'm gonna grab it~!

Hahaha, it's good to know we'll be seeing more new recipes from Nono, I love the way she explains and documents everything with pictures xD
Also, I dont know if there's a saying in english, but here too people usually say: "Se conquista a un hombre por el estomago", meaning that you win a man's love by his stomach (or maybe that's a bit too literal in translation, it'd be more like, you win a man's love by cooking delicious food for him xDDD)
Hehe ^^ Yeah, thanks to this blog, I've learned all this Japanese cooking terminology XD
We have the expression "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach" which means basically that exact same thing. ^^
I was tempted to go with this in the translation, but the Japanese meaning seems to be less about getting the man in the first place, and more about keeping him after you're married or whatever, which I couldn't think of a saying for in English...DX
Reading Non's blog inspires me to learn new dishes for my fiance! He loves them!~♪
I guess all women around the world know that men like to eat! ^_^v ♥ And to catch them and keep them we gotta keep feeding them! LOL
hahaha I guess you're right chibimizutenshi! women around the world now that for a fact! hahaha xD
oh the japanese and their sayings xD Thanks for the hard work guys! ^_____^!! ♥
